Dr. Iael Raij Hoffman is a researcher at Sourthern Arava R&D in Eilat, Israel. Her main research interests include saline water irrigation scheduling, lysimetry, efficient irrigation and fertilization practices with waters of different qualities, in-situ measurement of water and solute balances, unsaturated water flow and solute transport numerical modeling. During her PhD, acquired at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, she used numerical models, mainly HYDRUS (2D/3D) to improve lysimeter design, understand heterogeneity effects on water and solute fluxes from lysimeters and improving suction cup modeling. Her research as part of the irrigation and water management research group at UC Davis will involve agricultural water and nitrogen management, monitoring and modeling in the Central Valley of California.
